Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta.

Sorta nel XII secolo, si dice sulle rovine di un tempio dedicato alla dea Cibele, la cattedrale fu costruita a pianta basilicale con forme romaniche ed intitolata a Santa Maria Assunta. Nel XIII secolo assunse quell’aspetto gotico che ancora oggi possiamo riconoscere, probabilmente grazie agli interventi degli architetti monaci cistercensi di Fossanova. La chiesa si presenta all’esterno con il campanile, poderoso e solenne, che sporge sull’angolo sinistro della fronte ed è anch’esso legato all’architettura romanica.

Built in the 12th century, it is said on the ruins of a temple dedicated to the goddess Cybele, the cathedral was built with a basilical plan with Romanesque forms and dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta. In the XIII century it assumed that Gothic aspect that we can still recognize, probably thanks to the interventions of the Cistercian monks of Fossanova. The church appears on the outside with the bell tower, powerful and solemn, which protrudes on the left corner of the front and is also linked to Romanesque architecture.

Die Kathedrale wurde im 12. Jahrhundert erbaut und soll sich auf den Ruinen eines Tempels befinden, der der Göttin Cybele geweiht ist. Sie wurde nach einem Basilikumsplan mit romanischen Formen erbaut und Santa Maria Assunta geweiht. Im XIII Jahrhundert nahm es den gotischen Aspekt an, den wir wahrscheinlich dank der Interventionen der Zisterziensermönche von Fossanova noch erkennen können. Die Kirche erscheint außen mit dem mächtigen und feierlichen Glockenturm, der in der linken Ecke der Stirn hervorsteht und auch mit der romanischen Architektur verbunden ist.
